The World AI Cinema Festival – Remember the Future was born from a certainty: artificial intelligence does not replace the director, the actor, the cinematographer, or the other professions of cinema — it offers them a new language. Like Technicolor in its time, like the special effects that revolutionized Hollywood without betraying its soul, AI is today a creative tool in its own right. Our mission is to spotlight filmmakers who dare to embrace it with boldness and conscience, while loudly affirming that behind every generated shot, every algorithmic sequence, there is a human gaze — that of the director.

Directly affiliated with the World Film Festival in Cannes – Remember the Future, founded by filmmaker Karolina Bomba — the first festival in the world to create a “Best AI Film” category as early as 2020 — the World AI Cinema Festival inherits a pioneering DNA and unique legitimacy in the global AI cinema ecosystem. We do not celebrate technology alone. We also celebrate what human beings do with it. AI breaks the boundaries between what was possible and what was not. A creative who dreamed of a sequence shot at the far end of the world without having the budget can now make it. A scene considered technically impossible yesterday becomes accessible today. For the first time in the history of cinema, the limit is no longer the budget — it is imagination.

The World AI Cinema Festival – Remember the Future categorically rejects the idea that the machine can substitute for the filmmaker. AI draws inspiration from the creative’s DNA. It captures the spark that arises during a sleepless night, a car ride, a fleeting emotion — and helps the creator take their vision all the way. The idea remains human. AI makes it possible.

We expect every filmmaker’s work to clearly reflect their creative process: presentation of the project, artistic intention, and the role of AI in the creation. A creator who masters their tool also knows how to tell their vision.

An international jury composed of directors, producers, cinematographers, screenwriters, and AI ethics experts evaluates each film according to criteria of excellence: artistic vision, narrative coherence, technical mastery, and transparency of the creative process.

The winners are honored during the annual ceremony of the World AI Cinema Festival – Remember the Future, in Cannes — where world cinema has been writing its history for decades.
